Janet
Rawleigh,
has been teaching instrumental music for over 25 years in public and private
elementary and secondary schools. She
also served as adjunct faculty at Eastern University, Philadelphia Biblical
University, and Valley Forge Christian College. Before teaching in her current
job as elementary music teacher at Burrowes Elementary School, School District
of Lancaster, she directed the music education program at Lancaster Bible
College. Her conducting experience
includes directing orchestra at the Csehy Summer School of Music, the Lancaster
Community Orchestra, the L-S Community Band, and the Lancaster Bible College
Band and Orchestra.
Performing as both an oboe soloist and
orchestra member has been a love or Janet’s since she started to study oboe at
age 11. She has freelanced in both the
Lancaster and Philadelphia area. Her professional goals have always included
sharing a love of music with students in a way that helps foster life-long
participation in music. As she works
with the Musical Art Society of Lancaster and the Junior Orchestra it is her
hope that students will not only become more skilled as performers but more
deeply committed to making music an integral part of their life.
